Sent to me in an email earlier this evening, this is an update on the integration of Air Tran A+ Rewards and Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards:

Dear James,

We are excited that the complete integration of Rapid Rewards® and A+ Rewards® is just a couple of months away. As a reminder, effective November 2, 2014, Rapid Rewards® will serve as the loyalty program for the combined airline. Accordingly, I would like to reiterate several key dates so you are fully aware of upcoming milestones.

Please be aware of the following dates as they relate to this transition:

  • The last day to earn credits with A+ Rewards partners (Hertz, e-Miles, and e-Rewards) is September 30, 2014.
  • As of October 15, 2014, you will no longer be able to update your contact information in your A+ Rewards account. If you have a need to update your account information after that date so it matches your secure flight information, please call 1-800-AIR-TRAN between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET.
  • Existing A+ Rewards Chase Cardmembers will begin earning Rapid Rewards Points in late October. More details about receipt of a replacement for your A+ Rewards Credit Card with a new Southwest Airlines branded credit card will be forthcoming from Chase prior to the end of October.
  • Your existing A+ Rewards Credits are safe and can be redeemed for AirTran flights completed by November 1, 2014. You can also transfer any unused credits into Rapid Rewards Credits through the Rewards Conversion process. Any A+ Rewards Credits that have not expired as of November 1, 2014 will automatically be converted into Rapid Rewards Points at a ratio of 1 A+ Rewards Credit = 1,200 Rapid Rewards Points.

Once the A+ Rewards program ends, we will begin the process of automatically transferring your A+ activity into your Rapid Rewards account. If you are not a Rapid Rewards Member, we will create an account for you. However, I encourage you to join today and see firsthand the benefits of flying Southwest® and earning Rapid Rewards Points.

Finally, please remember that the conversion process, which begins on November 2, 2014 will take a couple weeks, and you may not be able to access your A+ Credits during this time. We are committed to completing this conversion as quickly as possible. Remember that you can use your A+ Credits for travel on AirTran through November 1, 2014. To avoid award booking disruptions during the conversion, you may utilize Rewards Conversion prior to November 1, 2014 for travel on Southwest® at any time. Further, if you are flexible, you can wait until the conversion is complete and your new Rapid Rewards Points are available.

We look forward to operating a single, best in class loyalty program, and officially expanding our Rapid Rewards family. Thank you for your business and we look forward to seeing you onboard soon.
