I’ve stayed at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare Airport twice now, both thanks to attending the last two Frequent Traveler University Advanced series.
The property itself is located about a 10 minute drive away from the airport, and the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport.
The lobby is very large, and a great place to gather with friends. There’s a nice bar and restaurant, which I had an excellent Cobb Salad at.
You’ll find the room to be a typical hotel room. Since the conference I was attending on the first floor, I requested a room on floor one for easier accessibility. I recommend that if you’re staying at this property, you request a room on the first floor too.
There’s a large desk in the corner, which is now equipped with one of Marriott’s signature “The Envelope Please” tip envelopes.
Located behind the desk is nice armchair. It’s worth noting that when I originally got to the hotel, I immediately sat down in this chair expecting to check my email with complimentary WiFi. There is no free WiFi at this property, and you’re forced to pay about $12 USD a day for the service if you choose to use it.
The bed is super comfy, and unfortunately that worked against me since I dozed off as soon as I sat on it the first day.
The bathroom was not the cleanest I’ve experienced, thanks to some grime and smudges on the sink. It wasn’t enough for me to complain and need to switch rooms, but worth noting for a future stay.
You should know that there aren’t too many eating options near the hotel, with the exception of a pizza place around the corner. There is an L station a few blocks away to get you into the city, but otherwise the hotel is in a fairly non-tourist friendly area. If you need to stay at the airport before or after your flight, this is a great hotel, though.
