Kimpton’s Amara Hotel and Spa, Sedona, AZ: Review

Amara Hotel and Spa:

Kimpton has a gorgeous property in Sedona, Arizona, hidden right in the red rocks that is a must visit hotel if you’re exploring the territory north of Phoenix.

This property, which is fairly new, was one of the recent free nigh offers I received thanks to being a loyal Kimpton Inner Circle member. Each year, I have access to one free night at every new property Kimpton opens.

I’m really glad I took this trip, and would most certainly come back. I decided to use another free night I had with Kimpton, to make this into a 2-night stay. Since it is over an hour drive from Phoenix, it doesn’t make too much sense to do this in one night, and I wanted more time to explore Flagstaff, Jerome and other nearby towns, too.

This property is set back from the main street that runs through Sedona, and is down a fairly steep hill. If you’re renting a car or driving, valet parking is included in your resort fee, which runs about $20 a night.

The room I had overlooked the red rock canyons below, and a beautiful courtyard which housed the hotel’s restaurant and swimming pool.

I was upgraded to a corner room which had considerably more space than a standard room. In the corner was the television and a luggage rack.

The bathroom was well appointed and clean.

As an Inner Circle member, I’m treated to a welcome amenity. This hotel was thoughtful enough to give me 2 delicious apple pastries. I had one each morning for breakfast (breakfast of champions!), along with a mimosa thanks to a complimentary bottle of champagne and orange juice from the mini bar which I was able to use since I’m given a $10 raid the mini bar credit.

From my patio, I had a tremendous view of what I consider some of the prettiest scenery in the US.

The restaurant below was where I ate dinner my second night. Included in my free night was a $50 voucher for food and beverage, which mean I didn’t have to pay for dinner.

You can read more about the property here. If you’re in Sedona, or want a hotel close to Flagstaff, this property is a winner hands-down. If nothing else, the views are worth more than any room rate this hotel can offer! To get a free night at any Kimpton or IHG property worldwide, get the IHG Rewards credit card!
