When American Airlines announced their 2015 AAdvantage program changes a few months ago, one of the most popular positive changes were for Executive Platinum (top-tier) members who will receive “complimentary confirmed flight changes.”
It was speculated that this benefit would begin January 1, but it looks like that won’t happen thanks to an exchange I had with the AA Twitter team. I had tweeted them asking when the changes would start, since I had previously called the Executive Platinum desk and they were not aware of the changes. Funny enough, the agent I spoke with said “customers are always aware of changes before we are.” About a week ago, I received a direct message from AA confirming a January 1 start date, however it looks like that has now changed.
Here are the responses I received from the AA Twitter team:
I am really looking forward to this change, whenever it is released, but it’s uncertain what it will exactly include:
- Is it confirmed changes at any time?
- Is it confirmed changes only within 24 hours?
- Is it confirmed changes only the same day?
It’s interesting that the website clearly says January, 2015, but both AA agents and the social media team cannot actually confirm the benefit, whatever it is, will start then.
