Passengers in Mumbai Told to Wait 8 Days Until the Next Flight

When you’re flying, missed connections happen. They’ve happened to me, and they’ll more than likely happen to you at some point or another. Whether it’s a weather delay, mechanical issue, or just a crowded tarmac, missing a flight can really ruin a day. Usually, the next flight to a destination is not more than a few hours later, or at most the next day. But, imagine being told that next flight home would be in…8 days.

That’s just what happened in Mumbai as 38 passengers coming off of a delayed Jet Airways flight missed their connection on a British Airways flight to London. Jet Airways had told them the flight would be held, but when they landed in Mumbai, the flight had already taken off. When asked about re-booking, they were told the next available flight would be 8 days away due to heavy bookings already taking up the seats on all of the other available flights.

Folks were left to sleep on the floor of the airport with no food or other comforts. 2 days later, all but 12 of the passengers had been re-booked on other airlines, and the remaining were provided with losing and food.

According to British Airways,

“Our staff in Mumbai worked hard to assist customers who missed their connection. Our flights from Mumbai are incredibly busy at this time of year, and in order to get customers on their way as quickly as possible we booked those affected on to flights operated by both British Airways and other airlines.”

Yikes. I can imagine being delayed by a day or two, but to be told 8 days? Wow!

True! I think the incident happened on Saturday, and most folks were home by Monday, if I’m not mistaken?
