In yet another step toward the integration of US Airways and American Airlines, US Airways announced today they would be discontinuing use of the @USAirways Twitter handle on February 28th.
Already, there’s been reports that the social media teams of both airlines have combined and requests sent to one airline’s account are actually being handled in a room with both airlines present. I imagine that on the 28th, you’ll see notices on the current US Airways account directing you to follow the new American account, and that all questions and inquiries will be handled there.
I find that the American Airlines Twitter team is very responsive and is very helpful:
- They’ve confirmed me on alternate flights due to weather, in First Class.
- They’ve helped with flight refunds.
- They’ve held reservations for me when I was having issues with the website.
- They’ve spoken to airport agents during times of tight connections and missed flights.
- …and more.
You can reach the combined airline @AmericanAir.
