One of Hyatt’s newest properties, scheduled to open this Spring, is the Hyatt Centric South Beach. With the release of the Hyatt Centric Brand just a few weeks ago, this property transformed from being a “regular” Hyatt to now a “Hyatt Centric.” Interestingly, the signing outside simply labels it as a regular Hyatt.
Hyatt’s website describes the property:
Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami will be located in the heart of South Beach on Collins Avenue, and is across the street from Miami’s famed beach. The hotel will blend the city’s Art Deco architecture with modern design, featuring a 10-story glass tower that will offer 105 guest rooms, 700 square feet of meeting space, complimentary wireless Internet throughout the hotel, and a Bluetooth-enabled television system in all guest rooms. Upon arrival, guests will immediately feel a sense of place with an ocean-inspired color palette of blue and gray infused with eclectic elements indicative of Miami. The lobby lounge will include a full-service bar offering hand-crafted signature cocktails and The Corner, which will feature the hotel’s curated book and magazine selection.
I had the chance to checkout the Hyatt Centric South Beach property recently, and wanted to update you on some things I found.
First off, rumor has it the property will open in April, though, from the looks of it, I suspect an opening after April. The building is still well in contraction, and doesn’t look like it will be finished soon.
Here’s some basic information, having had a chance to walk around the property:
- The hotel is located at 16th and Collins, one block away from the famed Lincoln Avenue, home to high-end shopping, restaurants and a pedestrian only district.
- The hotel is one block away from 15th street, which provides access to the boardwalk, the beach, and Ocean Dr. with tons of restaurants and bars.
- While the hotel appears to have rooms facing the ocean, the property itself is not oceanfront, and does not have direct beach front access.
- Generally, it’s in a really good location. I’m really looking forward to staying here, as the only other Hyatt property in the city is located on the mainland – the Hyatt Regency Miami.
I’m crossing fingers this hotel will actually be ready for opening by April!
