The American Airlines Flagship Lounge at JFK airport is located inside of the AAdmiral’s Club just beyond security. Once you pass through security, you need to take the elevator up to the main AAdmiral’s Club. Inside, your boarding pass will be scanned, and if eligible, you’ll be let into the Flagship lounge to the right.
The Flagship Lounge is essentially for international First Class customers, international oneworld Emerald members, and Executive Platinums on international itineraries. In short, the lounge is an upgraded AAdmiral’s Club, with showers and buffet style food. It also features its own customer service agent able to help you with seat assignments, etc.
Inside, you’ll find a wide selection of seating, however it’s worth noting that as the time approaches the late afternoon and evening, the place becomes very crowded and it can be difficult to find a place to sit.
The lounge features a buffet style food selection, as well as a full bar with premium liquor and bottled/canned beverages. The food selection rotates throughout the day and features a breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, supper and finally, evening late-night bights. While I was there, I got to experience lunch, afternoon tea and supper. The lunch was indeed light, but did feature some nice soups and cheese. For afternoon tea, some additional finger sandwiches were brought out, as well as scones. For dinner, there was salad, chicken and salmon, though I didn’t partake since I was quite full from the earlier meals.
My Take
I appreciate the full food offering, as well as the bottled beverages, which are convenient for taking on a flight, or stowing in your bag for later at a hotel. The lounge can get crowded, so I recommend getting there early and snagging a seat. There’s a section of nice Herman Miller chairs overlooking the other terminals and tarmac, and those chairs tend to go fast if you’re interested. 🙂
