The Park Hyatt Milan is the only Hyatt hotel in Milan, and is located directly next to the Duomo, where the central hub of activity is, and a plethora of high-end shopping. Because it is a Category 7 property, it is one of the most expensive, and you’ll pay 30,000 Gold Passport Points to stay here. Rates normally hover in the 600-1000 Euro range, so this is not a cheap property by any means.

Getting to the Park Hyatt from Malpensa Airport, the easiest way is to take the Malpensa Express into the city center, and from there, transfer to a local metro train to the Duomo station, which will let you off near the hotel, within a 1 minute walk.

The Hotel

Approaching the hotel, you can notice its grandeur, and there’s a set of friendly bellman on hand to help you with bags and assist you in directing you to check-in. Through a revolving door you enter the lobby, a nice open rotunda with plenty of open seating – this is the Lobby Bar – and you’re welcome to sit here even if you aren’t purchasing any drinks. To the left as you walk in is the front desk, which is divided into two separate check-in areas, as well as a long concierge desk. It can get crowded during check-in, but I arrived around 10am, and my room was ready by 11am, which was nice.

The Room

For my stay, I was confirmed in a Junior Suite, thanks to a Diamond Suite Upgrade I had applied. Some other guests have reported success in being upgraded into an Executive Suite, though those were all filled for my stay. As I checked-in, I was assisted and escorted to my room, where I was given a tour.

The room is very large and open, and features a great sitting area complete with multiple couches and chairs. There’s a table and 2 chairs for dining, as well as a large working desk, complete with outlets and a US adapter.

By the bed, you’ll find a cupboard stocked with complimentary water (replenished daily) and glasses. The bed itself is super comfortable, and I made the mistake of lying down on it soon after checkin-in, causing a lengthy nap. 🙂 By the bed, you’ll find light switches that control the entire room, though I did find it a bit peculiar that I couldn’t find an available electrical outlet near the bed for charging my phone.

The view from my room was of the inner courtyard, and I was able to see inside the hotel’s lobby through the massive rotunda.

The bathroom is almost an entire separate bedroom-sized area to the left as you walk in, complete with 2 full, open closets, 2 full sinks and vanities, as well as a shower, tub, and enclosed off toilet/bidet room. It was ginormous, and by many accounts, the size of some small hotel rooms in Milan. Each vanity was stocked with toiletries, and sponges.

There was a mini-bar located under one of the sinks, with the usual high-priced items.

Overall, the room and bathroom were very well appointed, and during turndown service each evening, my ice bucket was replenished, as well as new water refilled. I also received a small box of cookies or chocolates, which was very nice.

The first evening, after returning from dinner, I found a gorgeous welcome amenity on the table inside of the main room, complete with chocolate covered strawberries and prosecco.

Breakfast

As a Hyatt Diamond member, I received complimentary daily breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant on the ground floor, just off of the Lobby Bar. I could order anything off of the hot menu, and/or also avail myself to the col buffet, which had a beautiful presentation.

The first morning I ordered an egg omelet, the second morning a delicious waffle (perhaps the best I’ve ever had, to be honest), and the third morning eggs Benedict.

The breakfast was really extraordinary, and there was a lot on offer to choose from. Service was impeccable, and following my meal, there was no check to sign due to the complimentary nature of the meal. I found the service constantly offering refills on my coffee, which was terrific. As a must have, make sure you get the fresh squeezed orange juice which is squeezed in a juice just prior to being served to you.

My Take

This is a 5-star hotel located in an impeccable location near the Duomo – to be honest, you won’t find a better location for this, or any other hotel in Milan. While it is pricey for points and cash rates, it is well worth it, and I found all my needs to be met, or exceeded with this stay. If there is Points+Cash availability, I’d suggesting opting for that when possible, since you’ll get a really good redemption rate.
