I checked into the Hyatt Place BWI Airport last week and, as is customary for me when checking into a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, I chose to receive the 500 bonus points as my Hyatt Diamond welcome amenity. The alternative, as described to me by the agent at the front desk, was a beverage from the bar. To me, 500 bonus points is worth a lot more than the value of let’s say a $5 beer at the bar, so I always opt for the points.
When I arrived at my room, I was surprised to find a coupon on the desk entitling me to one free beverage downstairs at the bar.
Here’s the reverse side, which needed to be filled out upon redemption (and, interestingly, it looked like you could take it to use at another Hyatt Place property for a future stay, though my assumption is that they should have filled it out priorate my arrival and didn’t).
Curious, I headed downstairs to ask the agent what it was for, and if I could use it and still receive the points and she said, “most certainly!” Odd, I selected a bottled soda from the refrigerator (I didn’t feel like alcohol since it was later at night), and she filled out the card and I was off on my way. I asked her why I was allowed to receive both, and she said that they leave the cards in the rooms for Diamonds that way they didn’t have to choose between amenities (odd, since she didn’t explain this to me at check-in…). She also explained this was a systemwide thing, and, funny enough, I actually recall having this happen once before in another property, but didn’t take note enough to blog about it at the time. In any event, it was nice to be able to receive both perks, and the agent was really nice in helping me out, so I give her a lot of credit and kudos.
Have you received both the points and beverage amenity as a Diamond at Hyatt Place hotels?

Has never happened to us and our most recent Hyatt Place stay was 10 days ago.

Ha–about 40% of the time at Hyatt Place check-in they don’t even acknowledge my Diamond status or mention the points.
