Several years ago, Peter Greenberg and the team from CNBC produced a really fascinating documentary Inside American Airlines: A Week In the Life. While somewhat dated now, it showed the inner workings of one of the largest legacy carriers in the US, soon to become the world’s largest airline.
In the documentary was a short snippet about American Eagle, American’s regional carrier, which normally flies short-haul domestic routes to smaller, less traveled airports. These shorter routes actually make up the bulk of American’s route network, and are bread and butter for many of their passenger, so it’s worthwhile to take a look at how this operation works.
