Boarding for my British Airways short-hop to Amsterdam Schipol began on-time, though was a good distance walk from the nearest Galleries, lounge, so I arrived just in time for them to begin pre-boarding Club World, oneworld Emerald’s and Sapphire’s and passengers needing extra assistance.
Entering the plane, their was a rack of newspapers for Fast Track customers, though I declined, and instead proceeded directly to my seat.
Club Europe is essentially an Economy Class configuration, 3×3, with the middle seat purposely blocked for extra room. There is not any additional legroom. The cabin did have the refreshed look, and there was a nice modern, refined feeling to the cabin.
After take-off, we were served a cold lunch. Service was done directly from the meal trolley, though was very efficient due to the small amount of passengers seated in this forward cabin.
Consisting of mostly meats, cheeses and some couscous, it was actually rather tasty, and with it, I ordered a Diet Coke and some champagne.
At only an hour flight, as soon as meal service was finished, it was about time to stow bags and prepare for landing.
My Take
I like the new refreshed look of BA’s Club Europe cabin, however don’t appreciate the standard legroom. The tray in the seat next to you is good for holding spare drinks and electronic gadgets, and since I didn’t have a seat mate, it made it even better.
The food was quite good for such a short flight, and I really enjoyed the champagne on offer, since this isn’t something you’ll find on a domestic airline in most cases, domestically.
