I’ve been enduring quite a #firstworldproblems sage over the past several months that’s finally been fixed!
When I started this blog, I created an @theforwardcabin Instagram account to go along with it, figuring I’d post pictures of trips and the like. Well, I never got around to using it as much as I thought I would, and would occasionally browse around, but not really delve into it as much as I should have. Fast forward to last year, and I decided I would get back into again – after all, all the cool kids are doing it. I started realizing that it was a great way to post trip report pictures, landscapes, and other scenic views – and I was jealous of the other pictures I was seeing scattered throughout Facebook and Twitter.
Well, for whatever reason, I couldn’t get into my account. It had my correct email and would send me password reset emails, but still, it wouldn’t let me in. I tried changing the email on file to no avail. The support center on Instagram was admittedly next to useless as it would provide a contact form to report an issue, only to get an automated response that wouldn’t help my particular case. I figured hope was lost. Having my Twitter (@theforwardcabin) match my Instagram (@theforwardcabin) was important to me. When you want to define yourself on social media, consistency across all platforms is key. Sure, I could have changed it to a “the_forward_cabin” account, or some variant, but for me, that would have bugged me for the rest of my life.
In any event, I snooped around Google for direct contacts at Instagram who I contacted pleading for help. After about 50 or so emails to various folks (I kid you not…), I finally got a response from a helpful gentleman who fixed my account! Within a matter of moments, I was in! Success!
