What does Thanksgiving mean to me?
It means being thankful for a terrific family who raised me well, supported me in all my endeavors and educated me to high standards. For that, I am eternally grateful.
It means being thankful that I have a wonderful job, where I’m able to support the youth of community and help them get the most out of the Scouting program like I did when I was a kid. For that, I am appreciative.
It means being thankful that I am able travel the world, fly and stay in hotels most people only dream of. For that, I am lucky.
It means being thankful that I am able to give back to the community, in both large ways and small. Perhaps it was that one patient that was saved in a cardiac arrest, or maybe it was that one dollar given to support Rotary and its mission. For that, I will always be relieved.
It means being thankful that I have a great group of friends, who I’ve shared good times and bad with. Without family, and without friends, a person cannot survive. For that, I’ll always be amazed.
It means being thankful to be in perfect health, in no debt, and to be always aspiring to continue being educated. For that, I am always praying.
It means being thankful for an ever growing readership of my blog, and those who continue to support this endeavor and learn from the knowledge I hope I am sharing. For the other travel-related projects I’m involved with that seek to teach other’s how to travel better, and award those that have gone above and beyond. For that, I will always be flattered.
It means being thankful to the people who work behind the scenes on this ever so important holiday. To the folks in emergency services who continue to fight fires and prevent crime, which still occur regardless of the date. To the flight attendants and pilots who continue to take passengers across the globe. To all those that aren’t able to spend time at home tonight because they are sacrificing so much more. For that, I will always be indebted.
It means being thankful that I’m able to sit down with family, both immediate and extended to enjoy a meal together and share in the company that is love. For that, I have no words.
Have a happy, safe and most importantly, thankful Thanksgiving!
