Purchasing a power adapter for your next trip might not be high on your list of priorities but it is a necessary item to pack for foreign travel. Here is a list of the 5 best international power adapters on the market.

Tumi Luggage Electric Grounded Adapter with USB

The Tumi brand is well respected in travel accessories. From luggage to key fobs and everything in between, Tumi has your trip covered. Their adapters live up to the name.

This compact Tumi adapter is the priciest on the list at $74.99 but it is one of the best international power adapters on the market. While a heavier than some of its competitors, this Tumi does include a voltage converter.

Pros

  • Compact size – 2.8” x 2.25” x 3”
  • Weight – 8.96 oz
  • Includes a voltage converter
  • Nylon carrying case to keep components together
  • 2 year warranty

Cons

  • Price
  • Only one USB port

Bestek Voltage Converter and Travel Adapter

Bestek knows about power adapters. Unlike the other companies mentioned here, Bestek only produces power accessories, like surge protectors, car jump starters and power converters. It stands to reason that their converter and adapter would be near the top. At $42.99, it is not as expensive as the Tumi adapter but might still be out of the price range of a frugal traveler.

Pros

  • Small size – 6” x 3” x 1.57”
  • Includes a 5 ft. detachable power cable
  • 4 USB ports
  • Includes a voltage converter
  • 18 month warranty

Cons

  • Weight – 1.2 lbs

Tensun International Power Adapter Smart Wall Charger

Tensun has all your tech needs covered, including when you are overseas. The least expensive option listed at $17.99, it still has some great features for the budget-conscious consumer.

Pros

  • Compact – 2.1” x 2.7” x 2”
  • Light weight – 4.8 oz
  • 4 USB ports
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Does not include a voltage converter
  • No warranty

Skross Pro World Travel Adapter with Ground Plug

Like Bestek, Skross also specializes in power but its focus is connecting your tech to that power. For $35.00, this no frills adapter might be for you.

Pros

  • Small – 2.8” x 2.2” x 3”
  • USB charger
  • 1 year warranty

Cons

  • Does not include a voltage converter
  • Weight – 7.4 oz

Poweradd 2-Outlet International Travel Charger Power Adapterr

Poweradd works with virtually anything that is portable and plugs in. They have a nice selection of chargers but also manufacture cables, covers and speakers. This $25.99 charger is large but has some interesting features.

Pros

  • 2 USB ports – one specifically designed for Apple products
  • Embedded micro USB port
  • 2 year warranty

Cons

  • Does not include a voltage converter
  • Size – 8.2” x 4.5” x 2.3”
  • Weight – 12 oz
  • Not compatible in Italy, Switzerland, Brazil or Chile

If you want to keep your gadgets and gizmos charged for your entire trip, it is important to pack an adapter. Please note, not all of these products contain a voltage converter. Voltage converters are not necessary for all electrical appliance but it is suggested that you investigate each one to be sure. Have fun and safe travels.
