Amtrak Adds Increased Acela Express Service

Amtrak announced that they are expanding their high-speed options from the North East Corridor between New York to Boston, which will expand the popular Acela Express service. They will be adding round trip tickets on Sundays. And they are including more departures for Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings per customers requests.

The changes went into effect on April 8, 2017; The Acela Express provides riders with a faster trip with the train reaching speeds of up to 150 miles per hour with fewer stops. Customers can purchase tickets at Amtrak.com or by using the Amtrak mobile app. The Acela Express offers business and first class tickets, both the business and first class areas include several amenities to help make our customers comfortable.

Amtrak Acela Express First Class Car

Business and First Class amenities:

  • Upgraded Wi-Fi
  • Adjustable lighting
  • Large tray tables
  • Cafe Acela buy onboard food

First Class amenities:

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
  • Complimentary beverages
  • Hot towel service
  • Access to ClubAcela lounges

The following are departure and arrival times for New York to Washington D.C. and Boston to Washington D.C.:

 

New York – Washington D.C.

Monday – Friday

Train: 2103

Departure: 6:00 a.m.

Arrival: 8:55 a.m.

 

Boston – Washington D.C.

Monday – Friday

Train: 2151

Departure: 5:05 a.m.

Arrival: 11:35 a.m.

 

New York – Washington D.C.

Saturday

Train: 2203

Departure: 8:00 a.m.

Arrival: 10:57 a.m.

 

New York – Washington D.C.

Sunday

Train: 2205

Departure: 9:00 a.m.

Arrival: 11:57 a.m.

 

Boston – Washington D.C.

Saturday

Train: 2249

Departure: 6:10 a.m.

Arrival: 12:56 p.m.

 

Boston – Washington D.C.

Sunday

Train: 2261

Departure: 12:10 p.m.

Arrival: 6:57 p.m.

 

The Acela Express has departures and arrivals in other towns as well that include; Newark, Trenton, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Baltimore, Providence, Springfield, Hartford, and New Haven.
