The SELECT Black Card probably the greatest membership card that’s out there right now; not only am I a member, but am a huge fan of the benefits, services and discounts that are provided. The card is a personalized and private membership community that provides members with access to VIP benefits at thousands of locations across the globe. The personalized members-only black card aims to reduce the hassle that surrounds other reward and perk programs, by reducing the limitations of accessing rewards. Consequently, the SELECT Black Card transforms the rewards and perk marketplace by providing its members with sizable discounts in restaurants, retailers, entertainment and lifestyle activities. It is NOT a credit card — in fact, it’s basically a supplement to any credit or debit card you may have (but not required), turning that card into a luxury, high end membership service for a fraction of the price.

A substantial benefit of the SELECT Black Card is in the form of its dining & nightlife partnerships. The partnerships offer members insider pricing at the most talked about venues. This extends to complimentary rounds of drinks, to guest list access and table deals. The Select Black Card also has exclusive entertainment and lifestyle benefits such as preferred pricing with leading brands such as Bliss Spas and AMC Theatres.

The SELECT Black Card can be distinguished from other reward programs due to its SELECT community. As members receive a personalized black card that can be linked to their current debit or credit cards. Moreover, members can access their benefits through the members-only SELECT website and its SELECT mobile app for the iPhone and Android.

My favorite feature that the SELECT Black Card has available is the concierge service that can be accessed via text directly through the SELECT mobile app. The concierge team can assist members with making travel bookings and providing recommendations for restaurants and activities that meet the needs of the members, wherever they may be. The SELECT Black Card provides members with unpublished rates which can be as high as 60% off at hundreds of thousands of hotels globally, such as the premier Ritz Carlton and W Hotels.

SELECT Black Card members are treated to complimentary access to exclusive events with brands such as Johnnie Walker and Veuve Clicquot and with DJs such as Steve Aoki. Due to the exclusive and premier nature of the Select Black Card, members are screened through a competitive process. Where education, career, general interests and biographical information must be provided by prospective members as income is not the only deciding factor. On average, approximately 30% of prospective applicants are offered memberships.

The membership costs for the SELECT Black Card are relatively affordable, as membership is currently $350 a year, with instant access to the benefits and events the card provides. The annual fee is a tiny fraction of the fees charged by other premier and VIP cards that offer its members, far fewer benefits. Moreover, the yearly membership fee effectively pays for itself, through the benefits and savings on events and entertainment that the SELECT Black Card provides. Upon receiving my SELECT Black Card in the mail, I made sure to utilize the $23 off single day and $15 off-season at Six Flags New England. I also took advantage of the up to 40% off with AMC Black Movie Tickets that are available for Select Black Card members. I used the discount to watch IT at the theatre. This demonstrates the wide benefits and features available for members, regardless of your interests.

Aside from entertainment and lifestyle discounts that the Black Card can provide, there are also travel perks such as room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, and Wi-Fi. The on-demand messaging concierge service on the Select Black Card app makes utilizing perks and benefits easier. You can simply text the concierge service and request suggestions for the best restaurants in your area. Then ask the concierge team to book you a table and provide directions from your destination.

By far the most popular feature of the Select Black Card is the SELECT Hotel subsection available for members. The SELECT Hotel offers exclusive rates at over 600,000 hotels worldwide, the hotels are often used as the destination for curated and exclusive events. Currently, there are exclusive events in New York, San Fransisco, Orange County, Miami, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Chicago, with more cities added consistently.

A significant benefit of the Black Card is the SELECT Social Night events that offer members complimentary cocktails and networking opportunities. As the Select Black Card is an exclusive private members rewards program, the SELECT events provide members with the opportunity to network with high-powered individuals. Overall, the Select Black Card provides an array of benefits, that can make your social life fun and exciting and allow you to explore exclusive and premier areas of your city.
