On Wednesday, a notice was sent out from the Allied Pilots Association to American Airlines employees regarding a failure in the scheduling system used to assign pilots to flights. This failure is causing thousands of flights over the critical holiday period to be “unstaffed” without a flight deck crew.

A simple check of some random flights over the December period verifies this information – there’s no one up front on the schedule.
While I’m unfamiliar with the inner workings of this particular grievance, there could be the potential for widespread cancellations or delays as American looks to ensure “thousands” of flights have flight crews assigned to them.
