American is restoring its interline and IRROP Protection ability with Delta, as of January 24, per an internal memo made available by JonNYC.

As an important correction to the above screenshot, the second to last line should read “DL flights will now appear…”
The interline agreement was previously dropped by Delta as they felt American was putting too many passengers on Delta during IRROPS (irregular operations) and they weren’t utilizing American as much, though I suspect with recent challenges at Delta such as the power outage in Atlanta, they now feel the need for another option.
So you know, if your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, American’s first priority is to put you on one of their own flights or that of a oneworld partner before putting you on Delta. However, should all other options be exhausted, American can in fact endorse tickets to Delta and United, just as those carriers can do the same with American.
