If you’re an AAdvantage Gold elite member (25,000 flying miles a year), you’ll soon lose one of your benefits.
Beginning September 5, AAdvantage Gold members will no longer be able to reserve Main Cabin Extra seats at a 50% discount. They will still receive complimentary Main Cabin Extra selection within 24 hours of the flight, but will lose ability to purchase these seats at a discount prior to that timeframe.

I’ve suspected for awhile that this would happen. Actually, what I thought would happen first is that they’d make Golds only have a 25% discount and Platinums a 50% discount. Looks like Golds will get a bigger hit than I thought on this benefit.
