5 Tips for a Stress-Free Business Trip Abroad

Get award booking help and personalized travel assistance for as little as $1 a month!

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or an executive working for a company, you’re likely going to travel abroad for business sooner or later. There is a distinct difference between traveling overseas for work reasons than for pleasure.

For example, your purpose for traveling isn’t to go sightseeing but to arrange new deals for your company or employer. With that in mind, there are some things you must do to prepare for such business trips abroad. Take a look at these five inspirational tips to get you started:

1. Have Your Mail Sent to You Electronically

It doesn’t matter if you’re going abroad for a few days or a few months. You’ll likely get postal correspondence while you’re away on your business trip. The thing is, how will you know when you get mail, or even what it’s about when you’re away?

Using a service like PhysicalAddress is perhaps the best solution to the problem. You can have your mail forward to such a provider’s ‘virtual’ mailing address, and the staff there will scan and email your correspondence to you.

2. Invest in a MiFi Device

Don’t assume that everywhere you travel will offer WiFi connectivity for your mobile devices. It’s always best to go prepared by taking a MiFi device with you. In case you’re unsure what that is, a MiFi device lets you create a mobile WiFi hotspot specifically for your needs.

The MiFi device works with 3G and 4G SIM cards, so you can use any SIM card that works in the country you’re visiting. What’s more, MiFi devices are more secure than using public WiFi hotspots or ones provided by your hotel.

3. Take a Couple of Power Adapters

One bugbear about the world is how each country uses different power socket connectors and voltage rates. There is no standardized power setup, and if you don’t have a way of converting your devices to use local power sockets, you’ll be in big trouble!

Thankfully, you can avoid any problems by packing a couple of power adapters with you. Pack one travel adapter in your suitcase and the other one in your carry-on luggage. That way, if your suitcase gets lost, you’ll still have a way of charging your mobile phone.

4. Invest in a Lightweight Laptop

Lugging around a laptop that weighs as much as a couple of bricks is never any fun, and it can increase the chances of your device getting damaged when you travel. That’s why it makes sense to get a lightweight laptop that is still powerful enough for your needs.

These days, you’re relatively spoilt for choice, so you shouldn’t have an issue finding a laptop that best serves your requirements.

5. Pack Appropriate Attire for Your Business Trip

Lastly, you should pack clothing that is suitable for the climate at your destination and will also make you look presentable to the people you meet. Remember that first impressions count, so you should make yours a positive one.

SELECT transforms any existing credit or debit card into a black card that unlocks VIP perks, pricing, and experiences at thousands of premier destinations around the world.
