Activities You Can Enjoy in the Big Bear Region

Southern California is an excellent place for those who are looking for some downtime. In particular, the Big Bear Region is a favorite amongst campers and adventure seekers wanting to connect with nature.

While camping is a popular activity in the area, there are several other ventures that you can choose to do. Once you have found Big Bear cabins for rent, all you may want to do is the following activities.

Visit Big Bear Discovery Center

If you wish to feel like a tourist and discover the history and wonders of the region, the Big Bear Discovery Center should be your first stop. The discovery center creates exhibits and launches several tours and programs where guests can become more knowledgeable about the region.

The Discovery Center also has rangers that can help take you more rooted in the forest, all the while avoiding grizzly bears. It is the perfect place for families, especially those with kids who are curious about nature.

See native animals at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo

It is not every day that people get to see bald eagles. As the national bird of the United States, the Big Bear Alpine Zoo ensures their protection and sustenance. Currently, there are two popular bald eagles in the zoo named Valentine and Alaska.

Also, you can personally see black bears, arctic foxes, and snow leopards in the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.

Embark on an adventure in Castle Rock Trail

A visit to the Big Bear Region is not complete without taking time at Castle Rock Trail. This trail is famous amongst residents and tourists because of the many activities that you can do, no matter what fitness level you are on.

For beginners, you can enjoy walking in the trail while inhaling the fresh air and enjoying the beauty of nature. On the other hand, a lot of athletes, particularly marathoners, combine running and biking in the area. Mountain biking is also another popular activity that you can do in Castle Rock Trail.

Enjoy some splash in the Big Bear Lake

In summer, the Big Bear Lake is a popular go-to area. There are lots of water activities that you can do, such as kayaking, jet-skiing, or even fishing since the lake is abundant with trout and bass.

Skiing during the winter

When the winter season arrives, skiing is the number one activity in Big Bear. There are several ski resorts that you can choose from depending on your skiing expertise. If you are new to skiing, it is better to go to Snow Summit Ski Resort. On the other hand, a lot of professionals and snowboarders prefer to take on more challenging slopes on Bear Mountain.

Make your way through the Alpine slide

The Alpine slide is one activity that remains popular throughout the seasons. You can experience this refreshing slide for half a minute in Magic Mountain.

The Alpine Slide allows for water slides during the summertime. However, in winter, it turns into a snow tubing.

There are a dozen more activities that you can do in Big Bear, such as visiting their museums and solar observatory, among others. For as long as you have found your pick of Big Bear cabins for rent, you can certainly enjoy a great time with family or friends.

As such, Big Bear is readily available throughout the year, and you would not have to worry about lack of activities. Despite the changes in seasons, the region remains to be a great tourist spot.
