Everything You Need to Know About Parking Spaces in Hollywood

Driving for the first time in a new city, or for the first time at all, can be quite overwhelming. But, what we’ve noticed is that it’s not really about the driving, but more about the parking spaces. In a place like Hollywood where there are a lot of commercial areas, but also residential neighborhoods, it’s normal for policies to change all the time. And it’s also normal to find difficult and different driving rules in Hollywood. Drivers new to the streets often find those policies a little too complicated.

Which is why we’ve gathered this list of everything you need to know about parking in Hollywood. If it’s important, we guarantee you, you’ll find it here.

Free Street Parking Is Common but Conditional

In general, it’s okay to park anywhere in the streets of Los Angeles, and you won’t be charged for anything. However, you must keep in mind that this rule has exceptions, those being any highly commercial neighborhood. So, for example, if you happen to be in Santa Monica Boulevard, you can’t really park for free unless you have a little magical thing called a residential permit. With that, you can do whatever you want.

Street Cleaning

During certain times when streets are being cleaned, parking is usually banned for a specified duration. How can you know about something like that? Just lookout for any signs on the side of the road. There you’ll find the times for scheduled street cleanings and so much more information that could help you avoid parking tickets.

Airport Parking Is Not for Anyone

If you’re planning on leaving your car parked at the airport, you need to understand a few things. Parking spots are quite expensive around Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale. That’s why, if you’re considering using the Fort Lauderdale airport parking, it’s preferable that you book in advance. The process is as simple as comparing prices and booking online. By booking in advance, you’ll be guaranteeing better rates, and maybe discounts that could come in handy if you’re leaving your car there for a long time.

Curb Colors Are Not Just for Appearance

Out here in Hollywood, curb colors actually mean something. Red curbs are where you shouldn’t even try waiting. Green curbs are places where you can park for up to 30 minutes. White curbs are where you can only wait for a maximum of five minutes for passenger loading and unloading. The point is, don’t underestimate those curb colors. Do you get the picture?

So, as you may have noticed, handling parking spaces in Hollywood isn’t a big deal at all. You just need to know the basic rules and what’s what. Plus, if you’re unsure about anything, you can always look for road signs, or ask an officer, or just about anyone walking by. Having said that, we must also remind you that restrictions can differ from a street and a neighborhood to another. So, make sure you know where you are and what parking regulations are like over there, before you leave your car.
