Moving to Canada: Is It Really Worth It?

Canada has always been a welcoming destination for expats and immigrants. Whether you’re considering migrating there for work or family reasons, Canada has a lot of charm about it that should have you looking forward to your move.

Read on for a detailed look into why it’s worth moving up North.

Better Quality of Life

Canadians are generally friendly and many people who’ve moved there from the US would agree that their social lives have relatively improved. On top of that, the country boasts quite decent living standards and is relatively safer than her neighbor across the Southern border. Other factors that contribute towards the Canada’s reputation as a country with better quality of life is the good infrastructure and affordable healthcare system. Canadians are accorded free public healthcare, with the funding being drawn from provincial and federal taxation. Another factor that comes into play is the multicultural aspect: most US expats to Canada would attest that in one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and culturally tolerant countries, interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds on a daily basis has improved their overall outlook on life.

Diverse Property Investment Options

Whether you’re planning to move to one of Canada’s busier cities or to a small town, the Great White North has lots of property investments to choose from. If you prefer a big city like Toronto or Vancouver- for instance- investing in a condo would be a great idea; as you can flip it for a huge profit after just a few years. According to Precondo– a site that provides information regarding condominium developments within Toronto and its outskirts- condos currently make for the smartest property investment option for any Toronto resident. On the flip-side, if you’re thinking long-term, and need an affordable place where you can live for the foreseeable future; buying a detached house in any of Canada’s top two most expensive cities wouldn’t be a bad idea, as home prices are currently declining in these places, in the wake of the condo boom.

Great Education for Your Kids

Canada boasts one of the highest percentages worldwide for completion of tertiary education. The government spends a substantial amount of the country’s GDP on education, which means that schooling your kids- even up to the tertiary level- is relatively affordable. This is evidently paying off, as the country boasts a 99-percent literacy rate.

You’ll Still Get Most of the Things You Love about USA in Canada

Worried about not being able to walk down to your favorite Starbucks down the street once you move from the US? Or does the mere thought of not being able to attend your favorite sport events put doubts into your thoughts of migrating? Well, with Canada, you don’t have to worry about any of these; as the country shares many aspects of contemporary culture- as well as services and product brands- with the neighboring US. You’ll still be able to grab your favorite Starbucks cappuccino whether you’re in Calgary, Vancouver or Quebec. A number of Canadian sport franchises also play in American leagues, which means that you’ll occasionally have a chance to watch your favorite sports live, whenever home games are played.

The Great White North may not be perfect, with the grim weather and relatively lower salaries being a common complaint among US expats living there. However, the pros far outweigh the cons, as one can deduce from the information above. If you fancy a move to Canada- therefore-prepare your paperwork, pack your bags and don’t even think about second-guessing your decision.
