Great news today for American flyers, who are now able to same day standby for a flight earlier or later than their original flight on AA.com.
Previously, this was only possible to do over the phone or at the airport.
To standby for a flight, login to AA.com and pull up the appropriate reservation. You’ll notice an option for a same-day standby, and after clicking, you’ll be presented with options and alternatives. It’s worth noting that there may be no options available, depending on your routing, or time of travel. In some cases, it may still be necessary to speak with a live agent either at the airport or over the phone.
Free same day standby is available to all AAdvantage Gold, Platinum and Executive Platinum on the same day of the original flights. Soon, as the new 2015 AAdvantage program is rolled out, Executive Platinum members will have free confirmed changes, which will greatly improve the flying experience, since those folks won’t have to “hope” for a seat to be available.
This is a great addition to the American website, and for AAdvantage frequent flyers.
