New Enhancements Coming to American’s Main Cabin Extra Seating

Per an internal email sent to American Airlines employees, American is introducing several new enhancements to their Main Cabin Extra (extra legroom) seating starting this spring.

Complimentary Beer, Wine and Spirits

Customers in Main Cabin Extra will get free beer, wine and spirits, in addition to the current soft drink offering and snack selection.

Dedicated Overhead Bins

Starting on February 1, 2018, new placards will be installed to label overhead bins over Main Cabin Extra seats as reserved for those customers only. It is worth noting that flight attendants will not be responsible for monitoring the bin space.

Preferred Boarding

MCE customers will also receive some type of preferred boarding, most likely in Group 6 after all Priority customers.

These are three positive changes for the Main Cabin Extra seating offering, though I would have liked to have seen a more enhanced snack basket offering instead of the current pretzel bags and Biscoff cookies.

SELECT transforms any existing credit or debit card into a black card that unlocks VIP perks, pricing, and experiences at thousands of premier destinations around the world.

Maybe American can save themselves some more and reduce their ‘creative’ staff at the same time.

Just go to the same printer where Delta Air Lines has their labels, brochures and stickers printed and pay to have the same just change “Delta Air Lines” to “American Airlines.”

Does no US Legacy carrier have any unique ideas other than Delta?

Fricking lemmings! What are these CEO’s getting paid for?

interesting–I took AA flights on Feb. 3 and Feb 17…main cabin extra—no free drinks or food on 4 hour flight; overhead bins were not reserved for us. took another round trip 3/1 and 3/13—main cabin extra on both and no perks on these either. IN FACT, on the 3/13 I was not allowed to bring my tiny carry on bag on the plane while others had larger bags–mine fits under seat and the “nasty attitude” flight attendant made me leave aircraft and check it even after I said it would fit under the seat. AA is the WORST airline EVER!!!!

Are these main cabin extra enhancements still planned for rollout? I have flown recently on AA in a MCE seat and didn’t experience these enhancements. Thx!
