I messaged American Airlines yesterday regarding their newly announced First Class meal policies, and expressed my displeasure with their new system.
Overall, here are my complaints:
- Removal of warm nuts on non-meal flights.
- Removal of meals from under 2:45 hour flights.
- Removal of meals on regional/American Eagle flights.
- Lowering of American Airlines standards to US Airways lower standards.
While I’m not happy with the change, I do see areas where they could have gutted the service more, so in that regard, this isn’t the biggest devaluation ever. However, anytime American strays from their legacy meal system, I consider it a blow to the “new” American.
Following my message to them, I received a response back within 2 hours…a record for airline customer service in my book. While I’m sure it was some type of pre-scripted response, it does provide a bit of insight into the new program, why they did what they did, and some additional changes that were not as apparent in the original announcement.
