Pros and Cons
Pros
- Routing rules are bendable, and awards are manually priced.

Cons
- All partner flights can only be booked over the phone
- Once the itinerary has started flights cannot be changed
- Many agents are ill-informed, so booking requires multiple calls to multiple agents.

The reason that “Lufthansa and Singapore First class are not redeemable” is that US Airways is now part of ‘oneworld’ rather than ‘Star Alliance’ so their main partners are American, BA, Cathy Pacific, etc. I also think it might be useful to mention that, while one-way rewards can be redeemed, they are the same number of points as round-trips.

Doesn’t US Airways also charge an “award booking fee” even online?
Haven’t they changed the rules, and you can now book a one way flight for half the cost of RT? I thought I had seen that a little while back
