American Airlines Review:

Today, I’ll be reviewing one of American Airlines’buy-on-board products. American offers a selection of buy-on-board food products in the main cabin on select flights of certain lengths. For this flight, I had a roughly 3.5 hour flight from San Francisco to Chicago, and it fell during the lunch/dinner period. For those that are Executive Platinum’s on American (and now, also US Airways Chairman’s Preferred), you have the opportunity to get any one food item and alcoholic beverage when seated in the main cabin.
I was hungry, hadn’t eaten but only a few chocolate chip cookies in the AAdmiral’s Club in SFO, so decided to give the buy-on-board options a try. Unfortunately, my First Class upgrade did not clear on this flight, but I was fortunate enough to snag an exit row aisle seat, which was the next best thing. For this flight, I ordered the Chicken Cobb Sandwich which came with a bag of kettle cooked potato chips. Along with my meal, I had a Ginger Ale.
When you purchase any buy on board product with your Citi AAdvantage card, you receive 25% back as a statement credit. The cost of my sandwich was 9.99, so I’ll be receiving roughly $2.50 back on my next credit card statement. $7.50 for an inflight meal isn’t half bad, considering all of the “hoops” that meal has to jump through just to arrive at your seat 30,000 feat up in the air.
The wrapper on the sandwich noted that the sandwich was “handmade.” Interesting. I presume it was “handmade” inside of a large processing factory, but I’m sure handmade nonetheless.
The sandwich was tasty, though I did note that the lettuce was a bit on the wilted side. The sandwich was overall very fresh, and I did like chicken mixed with egg and avocado – the usual “Cobb” accouterments. When hungry inflight again, and not seated in the forward cabin, I’d order this sandwich again no problem.

I recall you were previously a Delta flyer. At times like this one, do you miss Delta? I just flew JFK-ATL on an early morning flight leaving at 6:15am and they served us salmon for breakfast with croissants and egg salad. I ate every single bit of it. That was in the First class cabin.
