We all know airlines have ridiculous policies when it comes to a variety of things. But this one baffles me.
Air Canada apparently has a policy where it allows violins to be either checked, or carried on to the plane. Violas, on the other hand, are required to be checked. That’s confusing.
For those that aren’t ware, size-wise a violin and viola are very similar, and are transported in similar cases.
From Air Canada’s website, here’s their policy on carry-on music instruments.
Here’s their specific policy on the violin, vs. viola.
This one confuses me, and probably makes the list for the top crazy policies airlines have, and enforce.
What do you think about this policy? Crazy or not?
