It’s in San Jose. Yep, I wouldn’t have expected that, but the largest open-air flea market in the US is in San Jose, CA.
It’s huge, and if you’re into purchasing useless junk, this place is for you!
The market is about a 5 minute drive outside of downtown San Jose, and is teaming with pedestrian traffic. The market is so large, it even comes with its own security force and police out on the main road to direct parking traffic. Once inside, you’ll notice the Spanish flair immediately.
Between churros, burritos and even barbecue, there’s plenty of places to eat, too. Much of what’s for sale is on the cheaper end, and if you’re looking for even mediocre quality sales, this may not be the place for you (there’s a fantastic market in Palm Springs, however). You can buy a mattress here, and even get a haircut!
Be wary of the return policies! 🙂
Parking is about $7, and admission is free with paid parking.Tip: I found free parking a short walk away at a nearby shopping center. I’m not sure if this is allowed, but I did avoid needing to pay to get inside.
The market is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from dawn to dusk.
