What I scored during last night’s major Europe fare sale.

Last night, I, along with a lot of other bloggers, reported a major fare sale from the US to Europe for as low as the mid $400s. Average prices were in the $400-750 range, and there were a variety of departure and arrival cities available. Most of the good fares were surprisingly available on US Airways, American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia. There were also a smattering of decent fares on United and Air Canada, too.

So, here’s what I scored. A nice President’s Day getaway to Milan!

The grand total? $715…a very reasonable price on this route. Here’s what makes this even better – by the end of the year, I’ll have 8 American Airlines systemwide upgrades to use; I’ve checked the availability on both of the international legs, and Business Class is wide open. Looks like a good chance of scoring a seat up front.

The routing is 8386 miles round-trip, which will provide a nice start to my early quest to pursue Executive Platinum status. I’m hoping to book a room at the Park Hyatt Milan for the short 3 night excursion, so stay tuned for more details as I look into lodging options!

JFK to MXP for $715 in the winter is a good deal? You should be able to fly there for under $600 during a sale and FlightDeal just had something sub-$500.

I’m flying from DC, to JFK and then on. I also specifically wanted it on American so I could use a SWU. Sub $500 was for Dublin, if I’m correct. Mainland Europe is a running in the $500-700 range as I see it.

Wait a second — you’re flying on Valentine’s Day?!? I hope you have a nice gift for your girlfriend upon arrival in Milan!!! 🙂

As for me, I’m not a oneworld guy so I did not partake in the sale.

Delta and ST are coming out with some decent fares as well today, too.

Yes! I took advantage of the business class fare sale on skyteam carriers roughly a month ago to Europe! 🙂
