Spirit Airlines is running a promotion for one week only – good until November 14th – for a 40% bonus on purchased Spirit miles.
Let me first start by saying that I will never fly Spirit, and wouldn’t advise anyone to collect their miles, let alone buy them…unless of course you took part in their recent free miles for complaining campaign.
When you purchase miles with your Spirit World MasterCard® credit card, you’ll earn an additional 2 points for every $1 spent.
The purchase appears to be coded as a Points.com transaction, meaning that if you purchase the miles with an American Express Premier Rewards Gold card, you will not earn the 3x the Membership Rewards Points you usually would on an airline-direct transaction.
Here’s a sampling of the points available for purchase:
- 1,000 points + 400 bonus for $26.88
- 20,000 points + 8,000 bonus for $537.50
- 60,000 points + 24,000 bonus for $1,612.50
Here’s Spirit’s award chart for reference:
Here is the fine print of the offer: Offer available for purchases made between November 7, 00:00:01 EST and November 14, 2014, 23:59:59 EST. All purchases are non-refundable. All transaction inquiries must be submitted to the FREE SPIRIT Program within 90 days from end of promotion. Bonus miles will be credited to the recipient. Offer is subject to change. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. All FREE SPIRIT Program terms and conditions apply. Price includes all applicable fees. GST/HST will be charged to Canadian residents. Purchased miles are not refundable and are applicable towards all FREE SPIRIT awards. Purchased miles do not count towards FREE SPIRIT status upgrades.
