Yesterday, Air Tran Airways flew their last ever flight, from Atlanta, Georgia to Tampa, Florida. “Citrus 1” was filled with aviation geeks and true passengers alike, but you’ll never believe how many people wanted to standby for the flight to be on the historic trip…
That’s right – and no, that’s not a typo. 876 people were in line to standby for the flight. With a capacity of 117, I’m going to make a wild guess that standby passenger #876 didn’t clear… Looks like he or she may be spending the night in Atlanta. 😉

The last time I saw a standby list like that, it was for an AA 777 MIA-DFW, the last flight to leave right as Katrina made her first pass at land in 2005. (I made it on – confirmed in three-class first… one of my scariest takeoffs ever!)
