Each year, the New York Times sponsors a travel show at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City. It features various expert speakers, travel exhibitors, and cultural performances. I try to attend every year, if nothing else but to pick up some free tips and tricks from the various booths.
This year, the event will run from January 23 through January 25. Friday is an industry day, and Saturday/Sunday are open to the public. If you haven’t been before, it’s certainly worthwhile to pickup a ticket – they’re relatively cheap.
I’ll be at the event, and will also be spending 2 nights at the Park Hyatt. I’d like to see what the interest is in doing a meet-up that weekend, on January 24 at 8p. We’ll talk miles, points, strategies, tips, and reviews, and it’s sure to be a good time.
Right now, my plan is to meet at the bar in Park Hyatt, since I know many here are fans of the brand and could use a few extra points from drinks. Plus, it will give travel geeks a chance to see the hotel without actually having to book a room.
In order to gauge interest, please comment below if you’d like to attend. If you’re attending the New York Times Travel Show, let me know that as well!
We’ll start an email group to confirm details (and confirm that there’s enough attendance to make this worthwhile), so be sure to leave your email address as well when you comment (just enter it in the appropriate field; it won’t be public)

Hey James, I’d be up for a drink at the Park Hyatt NYC. I’ve never stayed in a hotel in NYC since I live here but would be great to actually check it out. Thank you for organizing!

I’m really a marriott gal, but I might be interested in a meetup. You never know what you’re going to learn or who you can help.

I’ll be there.

Anyone have an extra free/discounted ticket they won’t be using?

Howdy all! In looking at the responses here, and some cancellations via email, I don’t think there’s enough to make this meet-up worthwhile, unfortunately. We’d only have 3 in attendance…
I’ll try to put together another meet-up at another event similar to this and see if we can get together a larger audience. Enjoy your evening otherwise!
Spread the word next time, and let’s get some more folks to attend!
