50% Bonus on Purchased or Gifted AAdvantage Miles

Now through January 30th, you can receive a 50% bonus on purchased or gifted AAdvantage miles. 

For reference, AAdvantage miles are purchased through Points.com and you won’t be able to earn a category bonus if you have credit card that gives you extra points for airfare purchases such as the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express.

As a point of reference, here are the fees for purchasing 75,000 miles and up to 100,000 miles. 100,000 miles will get you a round-trip business class ticket to Europe, in many cases.

 

I still think there are easier ways of accumulating 100,000 miles without having to spend close to $3,000, however, if you are short miles, or in need of purchasing a ticket soon and see the business class fares above 3K, this offer may save you quite a bit of money (keep in mind, there are still taxes and fees, though).

Here are the terms and conditions:

AAdvantage members must purchase at least 5,000 AAdvantage miles or more in a single transaction from the Buy Miles or Gift Miles program beginning 7:00:00 am CT on January 6, 2015 to 11:59 pm CT January 30, 2015, to be eligible for bonus miles.

Each AAdvantage member is limited to purchasing or receiving in a calendar year, a combined total of no more than one hundred thousand (100,000) AAdvantage miles. Miles purchased through the Buy Miles program, received as a gift through the Gift Miles program count against this total. The miles purchased with the Buy Miles program and received with the Gift Miles program do not count towards AAdvantage Gold, AAdvantage Platinum, AAdvantage Executive Platinum or AAdvantage Million MilerSM status qualification. A confirmation email will be sent to the primary buyer/gifter and/or recipient, using the email address(es) associated with the AAdvantage account(s) and any additional email address provided. AAdvantage accounts less than 14 days old are not permitted to Buy or Gift Miles.
