Citi has come out with a really great offer to Citi Executive AAdvantage cardholders – you can earn 3x the AAdvantage miles (American Airlines miles) through March 31, 2015 in the following, select merchant categories:
- Grocery Stores
- Gas Stations
- Drugstores
- Restaurants
- Commuter Transportation Locations
The offer is caped at 2,500 miles, however the categories you’re able to earn the bonus on are pretty “major” and it shouldn’t take too much effort to accumulate the bonus miles.
You MUST register for the offer, which will be included in an email link sent to you. Make sure your receive a confirmation page once you register.
I received the email and registered promptly, which makes me eligible to start earning immediately, through March 31. If you have a Citi Executive AAdvantage card, make sure you check your email!

Grocery stores, including supermarkets, are classified as merchants that provide a complete line of food merchandise for home consumption. This offer includes convenience stores which are classified as merchants who sell a limited variety of food items. Gas stations are classified as merchants that primarily sell vehicle fuel for consumer use. Restaurants are classified as stand-alone dining establishments that primarily prepare food and drinks for immediate consumption by consumers, either on the merchant’s premises or packaged for takeout, and include bars, cocktail lounges, discotheques, nightclubs, taverns and fast food restaurants. Drugstores are classified as merchants that sell prescription and proprietary drugs and nonprescription (over-the-counter) medicines. Commuter transportation merchants are classified as merchants that provide mass passenger transportation including railways and buses, bridge and tunnel fees and temporary parking, but does not include the purchase of Amtrak tickets. All purchases must be posted during the promotional period.
