A special gift from Hyatt arrived in the mail…

Getting home last night, I was happy to find a package in my mailbox with the label “Look inside for a special gift from Hyatt Gold Passport.”

Not knowing what it might be, I figured I may have crossed another stay/night threshold, or won some sort of promotion.

Opening it up, I found 2 United Club passes, as announced during the recent Diamond improvements.

According to Hyatt’s press release on February 12, here’s how they describe this new benefit: “Beginning March 1, Diamond members will receive two complimentary United Club one-time passes annually. Diamond members will enjoy access to more than 45 United Club locations at airports served by United Airlines, with amenities that include complimentary bar service, light snacks, free Wi-Fi, conference room access and more. This benefit extends Hyatt’s hospitality beyond its hotels and ensures Diamond members are comfortable and productive throughout their entire travel journey.”

The passes are not valid in any Star Alliance lounges, Global First lounges, or arrival Lounges, though do not specify restrictions that you have to be flying United. I don’t personally have a United credit card, and though my Priority Pass membership, received as a benefit from my American Express Platinum card, normally does allow access into United Lounges, it restricts it if you receive the membership from a financial institution, which this one is. So, I haven’t visited any United Club lounges because of this. It will be nice to review a few United Clubs for the blog here, since I haven’t flown the airline in years.

It’s important to note that the passes cannot be replaced, though several FlyerTalk members report that mentioning that you never received the passes will generate another envelope being mailed to you, and thus another 2 passes. “Your miles may vary,” though. I wouldn’t want to screw over Hyatt, though, since I think they run a good loyalty program

Where will I use the passes?

For me, I’ll use them in an airport without a Centurion Lounge, and without an American Airlines AAdmiral’s Club lounge, since I receive access to both already. There are a few smaller airports that don’t have either, so these would be best used there for me.

SELECT transforms any existing credit or debit card into a black card that unlocks VIP perks, pricing, and experiences at thousands of premier destinations around the world.
