The 50,000 point Hyatt credit card offer doesn’t exist

March 20, 2015 by James Larounis 3 Comments

Get award booking help and personalized travel assistance for as little as $1 a month!

A few days ago, I activated my Hyatt Visa credit card, and had an interesting experience with the agent I spoke with about a potential 50,000 point bonus on the card, in lieu of the 2 free-nights at any property worldwide.

Hyatt Visa

Apparently, according to Hyatt, such an offer does not exist, and has not existed for several years. I received a kind message from their corporate communications department informing me of the current offers:

The only Hyatt Credit Card offers currently available are:

  • 2 free nights at Hyatt properties worldwide in any category after you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months after account opening, which is available to travelers who open an account
  • 20% of your Hyatt Gold Passport points back after you redeem, which is available to all current Hyatt Credit Card members who register by March 31, 2015

As you know, current Hyatt Credit Card members also receive 1 free night every year after their cardmember anniversary to be used at any category 1-4 Hyatt property as an annual benefit of Hyatt Credit Card membership. Separately, for further clarification, Hyatt has not issued any recent targeted promotions to Hyatt Credit Card members.

It sounds like the colleague with whom you spoke may have been initially confused during the call but clarified the available offer before ending the call.

After posting the potential 50,000 offer, I received several comments from folks saying that they were more a fan of that offer, instead of the 2 free-nights offer, which, in some ways, I agree with, now understanding their opinions. Unfortunately, according to Hyatt, such an offer doesn’t currently exist, so for clarification, it’s only possible to receive the 2 free nights on the card, and no equivalent of bonus points.

SELECT transforms any existing credit or debit card into a black card that unlocks VIP perks, pricing, and experiences at thousands of premier destinations around the world.

Do you post anything else other than moronic posts like these in order to get more clicks?

I actually found this post to be helpful since I was kinda regretting doing the 2-night offer and planning on redeeming it for only like 24,000 points.
