Hyatt Category 1
Hyatt categorizes their award redemptions into 7 categories, the lowest being category 1. These hotels cost 5,000 points a night, or just 2,500 points and $50 cash on a points + cash redemption.
I’ll be going through each of the seven categories to pick the best hotels which are the best bang for your buck in redemptions, whether you are using all points or points and cash to cover your stay.
Here’s how I calculate value:
- Type of hotel (Place, Regency, Grand, Park etc.)
- The location, and services offered
- Hotels closest to the attractions you want to see, and have full or near full-service amenities.
It’s important to understand that my picks may not necessarily be your favorite ones. For example, none of the hotels below are classified as “airport hotels” and I’ve left out many Hyatt Place properties with complimentary shuttles to local airports. For me, I find these properties generally cheaper, and worth paying cash for, and find more value in full service properties, such as Hyatt Regency hotels, though your opinion will surely differ.
Here are my picks for the best Category 1 hotels with the best value for your points:
- Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, Chicago
- Hyatt Regency Wichita
- Hyatt Regency Albuquerque
- Hyatt on Main, Green-Bay
- Hyatt Regency North Dallas
- Hyatt Regency Kathmandu
- Hyatt Regency Kinabalu
- Hyatt Regency Balie
