As many are aware, AAA members get a standard 10% off most Amtrak fares so long as they purchase 3 days in advance. Now through May 15, however, customers can get 10% off the already discounted AAA fares, which is actually a pretty good deal in most cases. Travel is only valid until June 12, however, so don’t plan on taking advantage of this during the busy summer season.
Here are the terms and conditions:
Valid for 10% off the best available adult AAA discounted rail fare. Up to 2 children ages 2 – 12 may accompany each adult at half fare. Valid for sale April 1 – May 15, 2016. Valid for travel April 22 – June 12, 2016. Blackout dates: May 27 and 30, 2016. Advance reservations are required a minimum of three (3) days prior to travel. Seating is limited; seats may not be available on all trains at all times. Fares are subject to availability. Valid on the following select trains only: Crescent, Capitol Limited, Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, Southwest Chief, Palmetto, Lake Shore Limited, Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle, City of New Orleans, California Zephyr, San Joaquin, Amtrak Cascades, Capitol Corridor, Pacific Surfliner, and the associated thruways, except not valid on the 7000-8999 thruways. Valid for Coach seats only; no upgrades permitted. Offer is valid for AAA members; upon request passengers must present a valid AAA membership card. Offer requires all passengers to meet the standard AAA partnership terms and conditions in conjunction with this discount. Once travel has begun, no changes to the itinerary are permitted. Fares, routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. In addition to the discount restrictions, this offer is also subject to any restrictions, blackouts, and refund rules that apply to the type of fare purchased. Not combinable with any other discount offer. Other restrictions may apply.
