In full disclosure, Bluffworks provided me a sample of their blazer to try at no cost to me. They asked that I provide feedback internally to them, but have not swayed the opinion of this public post in any manner. This posting is my own review and experience with the Bluffworks Blazer.

When packing luggage for a trip, there’s one thing that’s consistently frustrated me, and it’s seriously almost every trip. I always want to pack a blazer or sport coat, for that “just in case” scenario – whether it be for a night out, important meeting, or, as was the case last summer, an impromptu national interview on live television… Here’s the challenge: packing a blazer almost always (actually, let me just say it guarantees…) results in wrinkles. To de-wrinkle a packed sport coat either requires dry cleaning or hours on end steaming it in a hotel bathroom, because you know those jackets aren’t meant to wash or pack easily. It’s consistently frustrating, and while I know the easy solution would be just to wear it while traveling and not putting it in my luggage, I shouldn’t have to do that.

In comes the Bluffworks Blazer…

Bluffworks sent me a trial of their new Blazer to test out, and BOY AM IMPRESSED. The Blazer project is currently on their Kickstarter page, and I’d highly suggest visiting their to take a look.

Here’s some of the quick stats:

They offer the Bluffworks Blazer in Two Colors: Charcoal Heather and Navy Heather
Two Lengths: Regular and Long
Two Fits: Classic and Slim fits, so you can find the fit you need.
Sizes: 36, 38, 40, 42,44, 46, 48.

Here’s how they describe the blazer in a nutshell:

After three years of development, we are finally ready to present to you our best product yet – a machine washable, wrinkle-free blazer that looks and feels like wool. This is a blazer you can shove in a bag, and comes out looking great every time. A blazer that stays cool, even when the temperature rises. A blazer you can wear nonstop, with lots of pockets and secret security features to carry your things. All in a technical package that looks and feels like wool.

Okay, so let me delve into why this blazer is so awesome:

Wrinkle Free

With my trial blazer, I packed it for a weekend in a suitcase stuffed with other clothes. Upon pulling it out after a day sitting inside, it was essentially wrinkle free, a pure miracle. To freshen it up, simply let it steam in the shower for 5 minutes – super simple, no hassle.

Breathable and Light

Wearing it, it’s super light and comfortable. It actually seems like it would be heavy, but putting it on, you’re surprised by how light it is, how comfortable it is, and how well it matches with a variety of pants and other clothing parts.

Stylish

It’s modern, it’s got great colors, and a great fit. It looks like wool, but isn’t, so you can be sure it’s a comfortable fit. All around, it goes with most pants you have and makes a great travel blazer.

Pockets

There’s tons of pockets to store your cell phone, boarding pass, and other oddities you end up picking up while traveling. There’s even a “super secret” pocket on the back for storing sensitive items.

Washable

What if I could tell you that you could put this thing in the wash and then the dryer? Yup. No explanation needed.

My Take

Okay, so this travel blazer is seriously amazing. I’m not kidding, and I’m not being endorsed by Bluffworks either to say this – this is a game change in the travel industry. Not only is this thing washable and packable, but it looks great too, which are all around essential components of someone who travels often. Get it. Now.

I know some will find this blazer a bit steep in price – if so, and you want another excellent packable blazer, check out this one made by Eddie Bauer.
