Are you searching for the best Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved locks? While it’s true that not all locks are the same, when there are so many choices out there it can be a real challenge deciding on which style lock is the best for you. Luckily with this guide you will be able to easily choose which style lock is the correct one (or ones) for all of your travel needs. Countries that utilize these special locks are: the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. TSA approved locks are essential for any bag you plan to check onboard a plane, and each of them comes with their own features.

You may be wondering why you even need special locks approved by the TSA? Wouldn’t regular locks be okay? With the rise in airport security the TSA now have approved locks that have master keys only they can access should the need arise. Not all bags are flagged for inspection of course. Most can simply be scanned by machine but in some situations the TSA needs to physically go through luggage. This is why TSA approved locks are so important. Not only does it eliminate the need to cut locks, but it saves time for the TSA and individuals passing through airport security. Below are a collection of approved locks to consider when beginning your search.

Triple Lockdown Lock

The Triple Lockdown Lock is designed to keep unwanted thieves and other types of criminals from tampering with the contents of your bag or bags. Zippered bags can be easily opened with the use of a simple pen. With the Triple Lockdown Lock, thieves won’t be able to frame you for a crime or steal any of your possessions.

A good example of this is the Lewis N Clark Triple Security Lock from Security Lock Boxes. It features two braided steel cables and a 3 dial resettable combination. Just attach it to the zipper on your luggage and you’re good to go. This is one of the best TSA approved locks.

Search Alert TSA Lock

Search alert locks differ from traditional locks in that they have a small window that changes from green to red when the TSA riffles through your bags. Only the TSA tool can re-lock your mechanism so you know your possessions are completely safe.

The All Metal Combination Padlock from the Acrodo brand features a popup inspection alert that is triggered only when a TSA agent has opened the lock and inspected your luggage.

TSA Flexible Cable Lock

Like the search alert lock, the TSA flexible cable lock is a rubber-coated metal lock with a flexible steel cable. The idea behind this unique lock was that the flexible cable could feed more easily through the hole of the zipper pull than a traditional metal shank.

Pacsafe Strapsafe 100 TSA Strap

Never have your hard case luggage accidentally open on you again! The Strapsafe strap features a small security window that changes from green to red when a TSA agent has searched your bag. Unlike the other locks, the Pacsafe Strapsafe is literally a lock attached to a strap that wraps around your hard case luggage.

The Pacsafe Safestrap is built with baggage constrictor technology so you’ll never have to worry about your luggage accidentally falling open. Designed and created by Pacsafe anti-theft travel gear, this TSA approved lock will ensure the safety of all of your personal items.

Search Alert Heavy Duty Case Lock

The Search Alert Heavy Duty Airport Security Friendly from Just Lock is built to last. The red and white Travel Sentry logo alerts the TSA that the lock can be opened without damage. The lock is designed for use with keys instead of a combination keeping your life and everyone else’s easy and free from stress.
