I’m a frequent Amtrak traveler as some of you may know, all thanks to living in the Northeast and having family here as well.
I’m sort of the “resident guru” on Amtrak among BoardingArea bloggers, and have done a few presentations on Amtrak and their loyalty program, Amtrak Guest Rewards, at the last few Frequent Traveler University events. I’ll also be doing one this December at the Newport Beach event, too, just prior to the program changing over in mid-January to a revenue redemption model.
I’m also blogging on InsideFlyer, formerly known as MilePoint. I’ll be focussing some of my posts relating to trains, since that’s a very uncovered subject in the miles and points community. It’s a true gold mine, and one that I wish more people would experience! If you’re interested, check out my posts every Wednesday.
So…that leads me to this post today. I tend to come up with topics to write about based on experiences I have, things I see that I think others would wonder about (or I never knew…), or in response to others experiences. I’m trying to broaden the amount of topics I cover about Amtrak and would love to hear your thoughts on things you want to have answered.
Some suggestions (but don’t limit yourself to these!) are:
- Amtrak Guest Rewards questions
- Experience questions (classes of service, specific trains, etc.)
- Route, price and schedule questions
- Food questions (hey, everyone loves food!)
Of course, train travel itself is a huge subject, and while I’ve written – and will continue to write – about international services, because I travel on Amtrak so much, and the majority of readers are based in the USA, I’d like to stick on the Amtrak side of things…for now…Maybe one day I’ll start blogging on the Orient Express. 🙂
I’m open to any ideas! So, let me know what you want to hear about! Drop me some ideas in the comments section below.
My parents are taking a trip from Albuquerque to Portland on Amtrak. My dad’s diet restriction is to eat one non-vegetarian meal and one vegetarian meal every day. Both of them don’t eat red meat. Amtrak told me that I can only choose one type of meal for every leg of the journey. Any idea what meal choices they should choose?
Thanks a lot
There’s usually a chicken or seafood option available, so I’d go with selecting the vegetarian option since those can be limited. Is that what you were asking?
Do you know anything about Amtraks vacations and their escorted trips to the national parks?
Amtrak Travel Insurance what do they cover and how late a train must be to cover my behind?
