In conjunction with American debuting new uniforms for their crews and ground staff, a new safety video has been released for play on all IFE equipped aircraft.
Okay, I really hate it. Maybe I’m just old-school, but I’m not a fan of all the “chic” to this one. Too many moving parts, and it’s a complete opposite from the previous, more traditional video.
Previous videos featured a collaboration between many different flight attendants, ground crews, pilots and more, which really kept the video flowing in my opinion. This new video only features a limited amount of speakers and appears way more drawn out, perhaps to the fact that every safety scene seems “illustrated” in some fashion. Looks like American went for a more creative approach this time, somewhat incorporating elements from other airline videos, too.
In follow up to the video, American also produced a behind the scenes look at producing the new safety spiel.
I do find it kind of cool how they used airplane sounds to create the music…pretty neat.
Does anyone else find it funny how much legroom they portray in the Main Cabin? 😉
I’ll miss the old video for sure. Welcome to the new AAmerican, I guess.
What do you think of the new safety video?
Truly the weirdest safety video I have EVER seen. There is no consistency other than “odd.” The weird hands? Women walking around in high heels wearing life vests (aren’t you supposed to remove those before evacuating?) And what’s with the blue office chairs? Are they so embarrassed by their failure to determine a systemwide cabin design that they won’t even put it in their videos?
And I thought this merger couldn’t get any worse…
Very odd. The main speaker lacked energy, IMO; I thought it was very lackluster. Virgin America absolutely NAILED their safety video, but this one is just very odd.
